I read your recent editorial highlighting the importance of the energy sector’s contribution to the health of our economy.
As an owner of a business here in North Central West Virginia, I can attest to the importance of the natural gas/Marcellus shale boom to the economic vitality of our region.
In the last few years, we have seen a tremendous increase in business directly related to the Marcellus play. As a result, we have been able to
completely renovate our restaurant, adding new dining spaces and a brand new kitchen.
In addition to the increased number of individual patrons, the industry books dinner meetings and receptions at our restaurant on a regular basis.
I have spoken with other business owners — from hotels and convenience stores to retail shops and to those businesses directly supplying the industry. All of them are in agreement that the increase in natural gas exploration because of the Marcellus play is contributing hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in new revenues to our community.
Everyone living here in Harrison County and throughout the region is blessed to have this tremendous natural resource working for us.
