With the development of the Marcellus Shale in West Virginia, the number of job opportunities in the natural gas industry has tripled! There are hundreds of different jobs that are available to West Virginians including rig hands, roughnecks, engineers, and many more.

In an effort to help develop our workforce, Energize West Virginia works closely with vocational, technical and higher education institutions to promote programs to train prospective employees in the industry. Two of the state's leading community and technical colleges offer specialized training for the natural gas industry. A training program for Floorhands is offered at Pierpont Community and Technical College; and Southern West Virginia Community College boasts an Academy for Mine Training and Energy Technologies.
