A program of the West Virginia Oil & Natural Gas Association

Southwestern Interns

West Virginia Northern Community College students Levi Knight and Crissy Palmer are spending the summer interning with Southwestern Energy. The two students are set to graduate next year from WVNCC's Petroleum Technology Program and begin careers that pay $26.50 an hour or more.

Wheeling Capitol Theatre

Wheeling Convention & Visitor's Bureau President Jeremy Morris sits in the Capitol Theatre admiring the renovations that have been made to the city’s historic venue. The doubling of hotel-motel tax collections, generated mostly from workers in the natural gas industry, have allowed the CVB to purchase the theatre and pay for new seats, fire sprinklers, a fire escape, a concession stand, restrooms and other upgrades. The CVB estimates that the theatre will be entirely paid off by 2020.

Mountaineer Food Bank

Mountaineer Food Bank Executive Director Chad Morrison stands in a warehouse full of food that will be distributed to 600 programs in 48 counties in West Virginia. Southwestern Energy's $140,000 contribution to the food bank helped the once struggling operation get back in the black.

Energizing West Virginia with Natural Gas

Natural gas is energizing West Virginia! It energizes our homes, businesses and even our cars. It's energizing our youth and their career opportunities. It's transforming our future, energizing opportunities like the ethane cracker facility and the incredible developments that may result. It's energizing county budgets and the state economy. And, natural gas is securing West Virginia's and America's energy independence.

Energize West Virginia, a program of the West Virginia Oil & Natural Gas Association, was developed to educate West Virginians on the benefits the industry provides our state AND to provide a voice to those that support the industry.

We would appreciate your involvement and hope that you'll sign up as a supporter, follow us on Twitter and Facebook, and get involved!

With your help, we can grow understanding among all West Virginians about the benefits the natural gas industry provides to our great state!
